My Story :) - Jenny

Hey this is Jenny! :) This is the whole story of how I decided to go to India. I have never been on a mission trip before, although I've been wanting to go on one for the longest time. I didn't really know WHERE I wanted to go, I just had the desire to go somewhere. I knew Allie had gone to India almost three years ago, which I thought was really cool. But one day, this July, we decided to go out for coffee, because we're best friends and needed time together. :) So we got our coffee and were talking, and I asked her how she was doing. She paused and looked at me, took a deep breath, and then proceeded to tell me this story: Her mom told her that WE CARE was wanting to send someone to India for six months to help at the orphanage and tutor English, etc. Needless to say, I got a little sad. I didn't want my best friend to be gone for that long! But as she was talking, I was thinking, "Wow. That's a perfect opportunity. I wish I could go!" I love teaching, and I love kids, and wished I could have had a chance like that. She finished her story and I started tearing up a bit. "What's wrong??" She asked. "Well I'll miss you! You're going to be gone for so long... But that's awesome. I wish I could go too!" I answered. "Well do you want to?" she asked. "Of course! Who wouldn't want to? It sounds so exciting!" I responded. She looked at me and said, "Because they're going to send two people...." I just stared.... speechless... I wanted to go, but when I was actually faced with the opportunity to go, I was hesitant. After all, six months is a long time! Not to mention a lot of money to raise. Allie could tell that I was shocked so she quickly said, "It's OK! Try not to think about it today. Just sleep on it, and pray about it." I could barely even respond. But after sleeping on it, thinking about it, and praying about it, I really felt like the Lord wanted me to go. I talked to my mom about it, and although she wasn't excited about me leaving for six months, she still said that, if the Lord wanted me to go, she would be supportive. I am going to miss my family, and my friends, but I am really excited about this mission trip :) I am so grateful for this opportunity, and for all your prayers and financial support! :) God bless you! :)
